Kentucky Trail PTA

What we do.
The Kentucky Trail PTA wears many hats. The PTA organizes fun and safe experiences for the students at Kentucky Trail Elementary. In the fall, parents and students can look forward to enjoyable family activities such as the Fall Fest and Bingo for Books. Then in the winter months, students will enjoy the Winter Party and then later the Valentine's Day Party. This year we are looking forward to starting a new tradition of having a Family and Friends Breakfast as well. Spring brings another Bingo for Books, the KT PTA Fundraiser and last, but not least, Field Day. During MAP testing the PTA also provides nutritioius snacks to the students.
KT PTA Board Meetings
KT PTA meets the first Tuesday of each month, August through May, 6:30 p.m. in the KT library. The board and other members meet to discuss the upcoming events taking place at KT each month. We encourage KT parents to attend!
Fall Fest
Fall Fest is a great evening of fun for the whole family. Students and siblings can dress up as their favorite character. To gain entry, KT asks for a canned good to be donated at the door for our local food pantry. There is teacher treating, bouncehouses, and other special activities. A silent auction is held in the library where parents can peruse over the specialty baskets created from the goodies that the students provided. Concessions will also be available. Fall Fest runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Bingo for Books
Another fun family activity is Bingo for Books. Parents and family members join their KT students for an entertaining evening of bingo. Students have the chance to win a free book once they are able to yell out, "Bingo!" Concessions are also available during Bingo for Books which lasts from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bingo for Books falls during Book Fair Week. Scholastic Books, posters and other goodies are displayed in the KT library and are available for purchase.
Reflections
The National PTA sponsors an arts in education program called Reflections. This year the theme is Let Your Imagination Fly. KT PTA encourages KT students to participate. Those that are chosen to move on to state &/or the national level will receive a $10.00 gift card to Target. Watch for information coming in early fall.
School Parties (Winter or Valentine's Day)
School parties take place in the gym at KT. Each grade spends almost a full hour celebrating in the gym making crafts, snacking on popcorn or some other tasty goody, playing games and jumping around in one of two bouncehouses. Parents are welcome to join their student during the celebration or volunteer at one of the stations.
MAP Snacks
KT PTA provides healthy snacks to the 3rd and 4th graders as they spend several days taking the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) tests. This takes place during the spring.
KT PTA Fundraiser
This takes place in the Spring. In order for the PTA to provide all of the goodies, bouncehouse and extra surprises for the students, funds are a necessity. We may be switching it up this year to a different fundraiser but nothing has been decided yet. Please consider supportour fundraiser to help make all of the events that PTA sponsors for the students possible.
Field Day
Outdoor fun best explains Field Day. Stations are set up back behind KT on the school grounds. Students are everywhere playing new variations of catch, tug of war, and "hot potato." Obstacle courses test the students agility. There are water stations where students can cool off which usually means being drenched from head to toe. The most memorable station is the dunk tank. What better way to end the year than to be able to help your principal cool off in a tank of refreshing water?!
PTA Questions
If I join the PTA, do I have to attend the board meetings? If I join the PTA do I have to volunteer at every event. What do I have to do if I join the PTA?
How do I find out about PTA events? Where do I sign up to volunteer for PTA events?
When you join the PTA, you do not have to attend the PTA Board Meetings nor do you have to volunteer at every PTA event or any PTA event! By joining KT's PTA, you are showing your support to your child, the students and the staff of Kentucky Trail Elementary. KT PTA knows that parents leads a busy life and the PTA is thankful for any type of support KT PTA members can provide.
If you are interested in volunteering on the PTA board or being on a committe to plan an event, please fill out a Volunteer form or let your student's teacher know. You can also contact the PTA on our "Contact" page.
